Building Successful Partnerships: Lessons from IAMCP India 2026 P2P Winner Kabilan Dhanashekar

Suresh Ramani, Vice President of IAMCP International, speaks with Kabilan Dhanashekar, Co-Founder of CETAS Information Technology Pvt Ltd., about trust, collaboration, and building business through the IAMCP partner community.

Successful partner-to-partner (P2P) collaboration begins with understanding what each partner needs to succeed. It grows when partners combine their capabilities, support one another, and work towards shared customer outcomes.

In this conversation, Suresh Ramani meets Kabilan Dhanashekar, IAMCP India 2026 P2P Winner, to explore the practical lessons behind CETAS Information Technology’s experience of working with partners in India and internationally.

Drawing on more than a decade of partner engagement, Kabilan shares advice that IAMCP members can apply to their own relationships—from earning trust to supporting delivery and making better use of the community.

Watch the video below for Kabilan’s insights on building stronger partnerships and creating opportunities together.

Start with Your Partner’s Success

One of Kabilan’s clearest messages is that a successful partnership requires a shared approach to winning business.

Partners should understand each other’s objectives and identify how their contribution can help achieve them. When one partner wins a customer, the relationship should create an opportunity for both to succeed.

This means looking beyond the immediate transaction. Helping a partner overcome a delivery challenge, fill a capability gap, or support a customer builds the foundation for a lasting relationship.

Adapt to Each Partner’s Capabilities

Every partnership is different. A partner may bring strong customer relationships, technical expertise, a product, or access to a particular market. Their available resources and delivery capacity will also vary.

Kabilan explains that CETAS adapts its approach to these differences. Sometimes that means going a step further to support a partner who has limited bandwidth. In other situations, it means drawing on the partner’s own delivery strengths.

The practical lesson is to discuss responsibilities early and build a working model around what each organization can contribute.

Understand the Differences Between Markets

The interview also explores how partnerships can differ across India and international markets.

In Kabilan’s experience, Indian partners can bring substantial delivery capabilities that support opportunities both within India and overseas. Some international partners, meanwhile, look for additional execution capacity to fulfil customer requirements.

These observations underline the value of understanding each partner’s circumstances. A collaboration model that works well in one relationship may need to change for another.

Turn IAMCP Connections into Working Relationships

Kabilan describes IAMCP as a community that helps partners build confidence in one another and develop business together.

He highlights how recognition within the community can support credibility when approaching potential partners. But relationships also require active participation: reaching out, sharing capabilities, responding to opportunities, and being available to support fellow members.

For IAMCP members, the opportunity is to turn community connections into consistent collaboration.

Support Products with Services

When Suresh asks about products and services, Kabilan explains why both matter.

A product can fill a missing piece in a partner’s offering, while implementation and support services help the partner deliver it successfully. Smaller and mid-sized partners may need additional delivery capacity, making service support an important part of the relationship.

For product companies, this means considering how partners will implement, support, and grow the solution alongside their existing business.

Put These Lessons into Practice

The conversation offers a useful starting point for every IAMCP member: understand your partner’s objectives, be clear about your capabilities, and identify where you can help each other deliver.
